The Christian life is meant to be lived in community. God has given us each other for support and encouragement as we live our lives following Jesus, our Lord and Savior. So how do we connect in a meaningful way to do that?

Peace is a very large church with lots of people, and it is very difficult to experience close, authentic community with so many people. So, we have decided to place an emphasis on small group ministry as a primary strategy for developing community and for spiritual growth. Small groups serve as a vital way for people to study and apply God’s word to life, to grow spiritually, and to receive care and support. They also provide opportunities for service and a friendly way to reach out to those that are not part of a church community.

At Peace we call our small groups “Life Groups,” because people come together to share life deeply, and they focus on the life that we have in Jesus and that we receive through his Word. So what exactly is a Life Group? A Life Group is an extension of our church family where people are committed to sharing life in community and encouraging one another to “fully live as followers of Jesus.” Life Groups are generally made up of 6-12 people who commit to the following:
  • meet together at least twice a month
  • explore and apply God’s Word together
  • pray for each other
  • care for each other individually and as a community
  • support each other in their faith journey
  • serve others together
