Let’s Pray
Hey, we’re glad you’re here. Praying is like learning to talk, and we want to help you discover the conversation God desires to have with you.
There are many ways to pray, and numerous prayers to use as you seek to pray. Jesus gave us a model prayer because his disciples said, “Lord, teach us to pray.” (Luke 11:1) The Lord’s Prayer is a great place to start, because Jesus himself gave it to us. We’ll include this prayer below for your use, even if you already have it memorized.
The Scriptures are filled with prayers. And you can take just about any verse and turn it into a prayer to God. We share some that are meaningful to us below.
Countless Christians have recorded their prayers, and their words can prove to be a guide for us, too. We compiled some of our favorites below, and we hope they help you grow in trust toward God.
And you can feel more than capable of using your own words- or silence- to pray to God. After all, this is your relationship with your Creator, your Savior. If you’d like some prompts on how to do that, keep reading.
More than anything, we want you to experience the presence of Jesus in your life. Prayer is a powerful avenue for our personal connection to the Spirit. We hope that this resource is a blessing to you. And now, let’s pray.
Personal Prayer Prompt
God, You have filled my heart with joy. “In your presence, there is fullness of joy.” And you, Jesus, are present with me. I have joy overflowing because of you, Jesus. I bless your name and praise you because of the many good gifts you have given me, all of them from above. Today I especially want to thank you for…
“I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and I will be healed.” I confess my sin to you, Jesus. I turn over every part of me to you and your grace. I seek your forgiveness in the inner heart. I need you to give rest to my soul and take away from me these things that are weighing me down….
You have strengthened my hands for battle. A real enemy is seeking to devour and destroy me and those I love. But you have come that we may have life, and have it to the full. Bring your life to me. Protect and guard my heart and mind. Be a shield for all of those who trust in you. And I lift up before you…
I yield my life to you, Jesus. My soul. My body. My mind. My marriage. My children. My home. My service. My family. My hopes and dreams. I give them all to you, Jesus. I trust you with everything. It is all yours in the first place.
I need you, Jesus. I need you today and always. I rely on you and turn everything over to you. I receive from you the blessed burden you have placed on me, and I carry your good news with me today everywhere I go.
I love you, Lord, and I pray this in your name. Amen.
Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven;
give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom
and the power and the glory,
forever and ever. Amen.
Prayers from Scriptures

Prayers from Other Christians
“Grant me, O Lord, to know that which is worth knowing, to love that which is worth loving, to praise that which pleases you most, to esteem that which is precious to you, to despise that which is contemptible in your sight, to be ever searching after the good pleasure of your will.
— Thomas a Kempis
“I thank You my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ Your dear Son, That You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray you would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into my hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
— Martin Luther
O Divine Master, grant that I might seek
Not so much to be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
And not so much to be loved, as to love another.
— St. Francis

God, I want to be your servant. I know that I cannot achieve the success that you call me to achieve on my own. I depend entirely on you to do your work through me. I know that you can choose anything you choose to do. Work through me any way you want to work. Show me where you are at work and include me in that work. Show me who I can touch with your love today. I dedicate myself to do the work you show me to do. Lord, accept the dedication and worship of your servant today.
