Week of June 29, 2025
How do we go about listening to God in prayer? God is ready to speak; maybe God is waiting for us to listen. Samuel provides a lens through which we can look at how God prepares us through trust and obedience. We embrace the quietness of a heart at peace with God as we wait to receive from Jesus the message of hope and full life.
Monday | 1 Samuel 3:1-10
Samuel had to be taught that God was seeking to speak to him, and then be coached to listen. Who has taught you to pray? Who can you teach to pray? How can you use this time to sit and listen for the voice of God in His Word?
Tuesday | Psalm 131:1-3
Like a calm child in the arms of its mother, that is the picture of our souls at rest in God. When have you felt that peace and quietness with God? What “great and marvelous” thoughts are tempting you away from the simplicity of prayer? How does hope in God anchor us in silence?
Wednesday | John 5:37-46
People have looked for life in many places, including the Scriptures, but have missed it- because they missed Jesus. What things can we seek from faith other than the presence of Jesus? Why do you think it is so easy to get distracted in our pursuit of eternal life? How can we seek Jesus first?
Thursday | Psalm 34:1-7
David came through a time of distress, and he wrote this psalm on the other side. Why is it important to seek the Lord, especially during difficult times? What does it do for us when we seek him first? What comfort does it give you, knowing God has sent angels to protect you?
Friday | Colossians 3:12-17
Silence in the presence of God leads to a life of compassion and love. When the word of Christ dwells in us, we cannot help but break out in praise. How has quiet time this week led you to value words and singing? What is the value we bring to others when we share God’s Word? With whom is God nudging you to share a word of encouragement today?
