Week of June 8, 2025
Have you ever felt like you had no time to pray? Or maybe praying didn't really even cross your mind? Life got in the way, the decision seemed obvious, you got too distracted, and you ended up neglecting prayer. We know that God works through all things, but what might we be missing by missing out on time in prayer? King Saul gives us a prime example of why we should let our thoughts, words, and actions be directed by prayer above all else, and we are invited to consider what we gain from a perspective infused by prayer- and what's lost without it. Take time this week to engage with God’s word and pray!
Monday | 1 Samuel 13:4-15
Saul acted out of fear and worry. When do you tend to act out of fear and worry? How can you build the habit of turning to God in those moments rather than your own abilities? What is lost when we don’t take the time to pray?
Tuesday | Isaiah 53:4-10
This is a prophecy about Jesus. We are ready to open our mouths at the slightest offense, hurt, thought, or idea. Jesus endured the cross without any excuses. What excuses do you keep using in your faith walk and in your relationships with others? Why do you think you do this? How does Jesus’ willingness to endure the cross help you handle these moments?
Wednesday | Philippians 4:4-8
Prayer is essential for conquering anxiety, because we turn over all we are uncertain or fearful of over to God. What gives you anxiety today? Make a full search of your heart, and then release it to Jesus. After you have done this, consider: where do you now feel the peace that surpasses understanding? Where do you feel God’s protection?
Thursday | Psalm 4
Taking time to ponder in our own hearts what is going on within us will bear the fruit of a deeper connection to Jesus as well as an abiding peace. When do you/ could you take time to ponder your inner world? If you haven’t yet, invite Jesus into those places. How can the light of Christ illuminate those areas of your heart?
Friday | Luke 18:1-8
Persistence in prayer yields the result of confidence in God’s action. What is a prayer you have consistently prayed? What is one you’d like to be more consistent with? What adversaries are you facing? How does the belief in a loving God begin to shape our confidence?
