Week of July 13, 2025
This week, we begin Scripture study focused on a selection of the words (themes) of the twelve prayer stations now scattered around the Peace property that we are calling the Prayer Path. These are words which certainly inspire prayer, but more than that, these themes are central to our entire journey with Jesus. This week’s focus is on trust.
Monday | Proverbs 3:1-10
What are the qualities of a life that the writer of Proverbs states will flourish? What does it mean to you to “trust in the Lord with all your heart” (v.6)? What gets in the way of such trust (see vs. 7 and 9)? What has most helped you to grow in your trust in the Lord?
Tuesday | Hebrews 11:8-19
What were the ways that Abraham demonstrated his trust in God? From what you know of Abraham’s story, what events would have reinforced that trust? What have been the most challenging aspects of life that you have had to trust God for? How has God reinforced your trust along the way?
Wednesday | Psalm 62:5-12
Essentially, Israel’s great king David writes, “In a troubled world in turbulent times, trust in God as your only sure place of refuge, your only sure foundation on which to build your life.” From what you know of David’s life, what kind of trouble did he encounter? What does it mean to seek refuge in God? How do we seek such refuge? What’s an example in your life of God providing such refuge in turbulent times?
Thursday | Mark 10:13-16
What do you think Jesus meant by his teaching that we must receive his kingdom “like a little child” (v.15)? What does a childlike trust in Jesus look like? Feel like? What is the difference between having a childlike trust in Jesus versus a childish trust?
Friday | John 14:1-7
As Jesus was nearing the end of his earthly ministry, what would have led the disciples to feel troubled? What had they already experienced that would be the basis for their trust? What are the current difficulties in your life (we’ve all got some!)? What does it mean for you to trust in Jesus in this season? What is the ultimate basis for putting your trust in him?
