Week of May 17, 2026
There is much in the book of Deuteronomy that guides Israel in its worship of God. This includes teaching on the Sabbath, the how of worship, the place of worship, and the special festivals. God’s desire was that his people would be free from the worship of work and money and give their praises and their lives to him. That desire has not changed, as we are led to celebrate God's grace daily.
Monday | Deuteronomy 26:1-4
The offering of the first fruits was a 10% tithe, presented to the priests every three years, to celebrate all that God has done and provided. The meal was shared by the priests and the poor, then became a family meal. Why do you think the tithe was distributed this way? How has God shown himself faithful to you and your family? How do you practice celebrating all that God has done?
Tuesday | Deuteronomy 26:5-11
The offering had a “liturgy” of spoken responses to remember the past. We celebrate what God has brought us through. What has God brought you through? When could you celebrate these events in your home? How would this enhance your spiritual life?
Wednesday | Luke 15:1-6
Jesus reminded some bitter people about the joy in heaven over people receiving salvation. Heaven celebrates YOU! How does this reframe your view of your journey? How about the journey of others? Where can you be leaving bitterness behind and joining in the heavenly Hallelujah?
Thursday | Psalm 71:17-21
The Psalmist celebrates God’s faithful love throughout his life. What “wonderful deeds” can you proclaim? What troubles and calamities has God brought you through? Who is the next generation that needs to hear your story of God’s faithfulness?
Friday | Proverbs 31:25-30
This chapter introduces us to the wise woman, who “laughs at the time to come” (v.25). When we walk with Jesus, every day is a celebration. Work is our worship, and worship is our work. What are you giving your life to right now? How can you incorporate more joy into that? What do you need from Jesus in order to make this a reality?
