Sent Together

The Church is the Body of Jesus, united together and sent together to further God’s Kingdom. Just as Jesus sent his disciples two-by-two, so he sends us today into a world that needs to know God’s love. How might it change the world if we Christians are all together in love and service?

Monday | Luke 4:14-21
Jesus told his family and friends about his mission, explaining that he had been sent into the world to bring good news to everyone. How have you experienced the good news of Jesus in your life? What has the freedom of the gospel looked like to you? What makes it hard to believe this radical goodness is available to you, and why?

Tuesday | John 17:1-5
Jesus covers a lot in his Passover Prayer with his disciples. What does Jesus pray for in the opening of his prayer? What do you think glory looks like? How does Jesus’ definition of “eternal life” in John 17:3 challenge or comfort you?

Wednesday | John 17:6-12
Jesus prays next about his disciples. What are the statements he makes about his disciples? Why do you think Jesus prays for their protection, even as he prepares for the cross himself? When have you sought protection in the name of Jesus Christ? If you haven’t, can you think of a time when you could have?

Thursday | John 17:13-19
Jesus prays that his disciples may have joy even as they experience hatred from others. Why do you think Jesus specifically prays for joy? When have you experienced joy, whether in hard times or good? What is your reaction to Jesus praying that they stay in the midst of the difficulties of the world?

Friday | John 17:20-26
Lastly, Jesus prays for us, those who are yet to come and believe in him through the message of those disciples. How does it impact you to know that Jesus prayed for you? Why do you think unity is such a big deal? How would a unified church be able to impact our culture and world?
