Week of August 17, 2025
Words for the Journey covers words that define our prayer life and help us on our journey. This week, we consider clarity. In prayer, we enjoy the clear path God lays out for us. While not every decision is easy, and not every answer is obvious, clarity comes from being able to see reality from God's perspective - and then act on it. Clarity looks like action. So seek God in prayer, and ask for the clarity to see and do exactly what God is putting before you.
Monday | Psalm 37:1-6
Delighting in God is at the center of our commitment to God. What do you fret over? What do you delight in? Why would God want our desires to be oriented toward him, rather than getting rid of our desires?
Tuesday | 1 Corinthians 14:33
God is a God of peace, not confusion. While the context is about worship practices, we know that God operates so that we can have wholeness in our lives. Where do you experience peace? How about confusion? What do you think God would speak into your confusion?
Wednesday | Matthew 7:1-5
Looking at others is always easier than looking in the mirror. When have you struggled with hypocrisy? Why is judging others such a temptation for people? How does self-reflection help establish clarity?
Thursday | John 8:54-56
All the prophets of old looked forward to Jesus' time, having clarity from God's promises. How do the prophecies of old continue to give clarity to our daily walk? Has God ever given you supernatural clarity? If so, what was that like? If not, what do you pray God reveals to you?
Friday | Mark 10:46-52
Seeing isn't believing- believing is seeing. How can our experiences limit what we believe is possible for God to do? Why do humans often discourage people from praying? What do you find remarkable about this interaction between Jesus and Bartimaeus?
