Week of August 30, 2026
Monday | Psalm 27
The confidence of the Psalmist comes from his location: with the Lord. Whether in battle, among enemies, or in worship, David is with the Lord, and that is what he seeks. How does it change “the day of trouble” (v.5) if God is with you and protecting you? What does it look like to seek God’s face (v.8)? Why do you think confidence and courage come from experiencing the presence of God?
Tuesday | Luke 10:38-42
Mary and Martha take different postures while in the presence of Jesus. In this season of your life, which of them is more relatable, and why? What cares and worries are keeping you from enjoying the p’ presence? How can you find space for “the one thing necessary”, while also not dropping all your responsibilities?
Wednesday | John 1:35-42
Jesus asked a simple question of a couple of young men: “What are you seeking?” What do you want? What do you want? They wanted to “abide” with Jesus, to know where he was staying and go there, too. If you spent a day with Jesus, what do you think you’d see differently that’s already in your life? What difference would his presence make? What’s keeping you from experiencing those things today, since Jesus promises to be with you even now?
Thursday | John 15:1-5
Every branch gets cut or pruned. Whether we are producing or not, we will experience loss- but always for the sake of gain. How hard is it for you to hear, “You can’t do anything apart from me”? Why is that? What do you think is the result of a life that is connected to the Source of Life? What would be the first thing God would prune from your day or life to make you a more productive vine?
Friday | John 15:6-11
Jesus invites us to make our home in his love- and this will lead us to a full experience of God’s joy. Where do you find yourself abiding, or where are you making your home? What do you imagine a life at home in Jesus’ love looks like? We can be pretty serious as Christians; how can we more fully embrace God's joy in our Christian walk?
