Week of September 6, 2026
Monday | Genesis 1:26 - 2:17
Why do you think God gave Adam and Eve the work of subduing the earth and tending the Garden? What kind of work do you imagine Adam and Eve doing in the garden? How do you suppose they felt about the work they were doing? How does this speak to you about the different work you do each day?
Tuesday | Genesis 3:1-19
How did the consequences of sin change work for Adam? How do you see the effects of sin in the work that you are given to do? How does sin tend to influence your attitude about your work? How do you restore a positive attitude when work gets you down?
Wednesday | 2 Thessalonians 3:1-17
Why did Paul and his ministry companions work for their daily needs rather than rely on the generosity of others? What does Paul’s attitude towards work say to us about the significance of our work? How can we, as Christ followers, help promote a more positive attitude toward the significance and goodness of daily work?
Thursday | Colossians 3:15-17 & 3:22-4:1
Paul teaches that even slaves can find dignity and goodness in their work if they see it as serving the Lord. When do you need to be reminded that your work matters to God? How can you reframe your work attitude when it feels unfair, frustrating, or pointless to you?
Friday | John 5:1-17 & Mark 2:23-28
Our work is important to God because we are made in his image to do good. However, He also calls us to recognize our need for rest and gives us direction to do so in the Sabbath. How do you balance your work and your rest? In what ways are you tempted to get out of balance on either side? How does Jesus’ modeling and teaching help you to work well, without overworking yourself or others?
